According to Mario Kleinberger of Austrian news outlet, Kleine Zeitung, pending UFA forward Michael Raffl is reportedly not happy with a recent contract offer from the Dallas Starts and may be looking at returning to Europe next season.
Kleinberger went on to add that several teams from Switzerland's top division, National League, have expressed interested in signing the nine-year NHL veteran.
Note: the following is translated from German.
"The signs point to Michael Raffl saying goodbye to the NHL. The Villach, who played nine seasons in the top league, has held talks with the Dallas Stars, but the Texans' offer is nowhere near what the 33-year-old envisions." Kleinberger said.
He added, "Therefore, there is much to suggest that the striker should move to Switzerland in the coming season. There are some clubs from the NLA after the Austrian."
Raffl, 33, spent parts of nine seasons in the National Hockey League with the Philadelphia Flyers, Washington Capitals and Dallas Stars. In 590 career games, Raffl has 179 points (89 goals, 90 assists), 235 penalty minutes and is a minus-seven.
