Josh Manson has been a welcome addition to the ranks of the Colorado Avalanche. His unique blend of physicality, defensive acumen, & timely offensive contributions pushed the Avalanche past the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2001-02. The team had stalled out more than once in recent years, and the frustration of the team's leadership was apparent. GM Joe Sakic has done well to stack the Avalanche team to push them over the hump. Now, they've finally done it & will face the Edmonton Oilers, in what is sure to be a titillating Western Conference Final.

Dave Manson, Assistant Coach for the Oilers, will square off against his son for the rite to play for Lord Stanley's Cup. Truly scintillating Thanksgiving table talk. The elder Manson played 17 NHL seasons for 8 NHL clubs before coaching the last 16 seasons for the Prince Albert Raiders (WHL) & Bakersfield Condors (AHL). He was promoted to the NHL club upon the firing of Dave Tippett.

After Josh & the Avalanche clinched the WCF berth, he was asked about squaring off against his old man. His dad's pre-game speech was short, but he was wise to put family first:

The series between Colorado & Edmonton, Mackinnon & Makar vs. McDavid & Draisaitl, will surely be a contest for the ages. Game 1 is Tuesday May 31, 8pm ET.
