The NHL will be raising the salary thresholds for draft pick compensation owed in the 2022 RFA offer-sheet process.
NHL teams are allowed to tender an offer sheet to an RFA, and the offer sheet must be signed before draft picks are required to be sent the other way. The amount and value of the draft picks is determined by the annual average value of the said sheet.
The new lowest AAV for draft pick compensation has been raised to $1,386,490, which is an increase of almost $30,000 from a year ago. The new high is sitting at $10,503,720, which increased nearly $230,000.
The compensation for draft picks starts at a single third round pick, all the way to four first round picks, which is a hefty price to pay, but it could be worth it for some of the league's best of the best. The full compensation ranges can be seen below.
