Carolina Hurricanes social media team absolutely roasts beer brand

The Carolina Hurricanes' Twitter account is famous for hot takes and stirring the pot, and it had another great one Wednesday evening.

The team found itself the subject of some controversy this week after it was discovered that it was doing all it could to limit tickets being sold to New York Rangers fans at its home arena for the first two games of their second round 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs series. It would automatically refund money to anyone who purchased tickets using a postal code for their credit card which was outside a certain area. This didn't sit well with many, although this has become pretty common practice for several teams over the last few years. Wednesday evening, the Bud Light Beer Brand, which sponsors the New York Rangers, offered free beer to any fans of the Blueshirts who could manage to get into PNC arena for the first two games.

The move may have backfired somewhat as the Canes Twitter account had the perfect response.

"We already offer free water at our fountains," it said while retweeting the offer from Bud Light.

Given the restrictions, it's unlikely Bud Light would have given away many free beers anyway. This just seems like a good way to alienate your brand from the folks attending the game in Raleigh.
