Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson was injured early in Game 1 of their first round series against the Florida Panthers. Wilson managed to score a powerplay goal, but only played 1:31 before having to leave the game with what was described as a lower-body injury by Head Coach Peter Laviolette.

Wilson would go on to skate on consecutive days leading up to Game 6, but ultimately couldn't return to the lineup.

In his exit interview on Sunday, Wilson told reporters that he suffered a pretty significant knee in Game 1 and isn't sure at this time if it will require surgery.

Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin also told reporters that he was dealing with a left shoulder injury throughout the season. He sustained the injury on April 24th against Toronto after tripping over the Maple Leafs netminder and crashing into the boards. He added that he won't require surgery.

Meanwhile, Nicklas Backstrom was asked about his hip that kept him out of the Capitals lineup until the middle of December. Backstrom told reporters that his hip won't be the same again and that he'll have some decisions to make.

"The hip's not going to be 100%. That's something we all know. Some days are good. Some days are less good. That's just life," Backstrom said.

He added, "The best thing I want to do is play hockey, and that's my life. Obviously I want to be back. I want to be back to normal, not worrying about this. We'll see what's going to happen. Nothing is finalized yet."
