The Washington Capitals were eliminated from the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs on Friday after an overtime loss in Game 6 against the Florida Panthers. Overall it was not a bad series for Washington, but they were heavily outmatched by an extremely skilled and deep Florida team.

With the Capitals now out, a pair of their defencemen are heading to represent their nations at the 2022 IIHF World Hockey Championship in Finland. Martin Fehervary will play for Slovakia, while Michal Kempny will play for Czechia.

"I have preliminary information that Martin Fehérváry could come on Monday. I'll know more for lunch." Slovak hockey insider Tomas Prokop said.

"Michal Kempny is a defender with international experience and I believe that he will be a very good reinforcement for us," said Czech GM Petr Nedved.

Slovakia is back in action on Monday at 9:20 a.m. ET against Canada, but it's unclear if Fehervary will play. As for Czechia, they play this afternoon at 1:20 p.m. ET against Sweden, but it's possible Kempny gets into the lineup on Tuesday against Austria if things go as planned.
