The NHL announced on Thursday that four of its teams will be facing off in the Global Series matchups to start next season. There will be two regular season games played at each location, similar to a double-header.

The first matchup will be the Columbus Blue Jackets against the Colorado Avalanche. They will play on Friday, November 4 and Saturday, November 5 as part of the series, which will be played in Tampere, Finland at Nokia Arena.

The second matchup will showcase the San Jose Sharks and the Nashville Predators opening their seasons with a pair of games at O2 Arena in Prague, Czech Republic on October 7 and 8.

This is the ninth season that the NHL will travel to Europe to play regular season games. It is a nice opportunity for fans in Europe to see some NHL action, and help the league to expand its fans even more.
