There's been a lot of debate over who should win the Norris Trophy this season for the year's best defenceman. There are a few names on the blueline having a fantastic year. As for Victor Hedman of the Tampa Bay Lightning, who won the award in 2018, he knows who he would pick.

Hedman told reporters that while it would be difficult not to choose Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche, his vote would go to Roman Josi of the Nashville Predators if he got one.

Josi has more points than Makar with 89 to Makar's 84. However, Makar has more goals than Josi with 27 to Josi's 20. That said, the the award is given "to the National Hockey League's top defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position." That leaves things a bit more open to interpretation. You really can't go wrong with Makar or Josi. It will be a tough decision for those voting. By the way, Josi already has one Norris, which he won in 2020.
