So far in the East, Florida, Toronto, Tampa Bay, Carolina, the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh have clinched their spot, while in the West, Colorado is the only team that has.
As mentioned, four playoff berths are up for grabs on Saturday night, those teams being, Calgary, Minnesota, and St. Louis in the Western Conference, and the Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference. Additionally, the Colorado Avalanche can clinch the Central division title and the top seed in the Western Conference today.
Let's take a look at how all these teams can clinch a spot in the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Boston Bruins can clinch a playoff spot:
- If they get at least one point against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Colorado Avalanche can clinch top seed in the Western Conference:
- If they defeat the Carolina Hurricanes in any fashion.
OR
- If they get one point against the Hurricanes and the St. Louis Blues defeat the Minnesota Wild in any fashion and the Arizona Coyotes defeat the Calgary Flames in any fashion.
The Colorado Avalanche can clinch the Central division title:
- If they defeat the Carolina Hurricanes in any fashion.
OR
- If they get one point against the Carolina Hurricanes and the St. Louis Blues defeat the Minnesota Wild in any fashion.
The Calgary Flames will clinch a playoff spot:
- If they get at least one point against the Arizona Coyotes.
OR
- If the Columbus Blue Jackets defeat the Los Angeles Kings in any fashion.
OR
- If the Edmonton Oilers defeat the Vegas Golden Knights in regulation.
The Minnesota Wild will clinch a playoff spot:
- If they defeat the St. Louis Blues in any fashion AND either the Columbus Blue Jackets defeat the Los Angeles Kings in any fashion or the Edmonton Oilers defeat the Vegas Golden Knights in regulation.
OR
- If they get one point against the St. Louis Blues and the Columbus Blue Jackets defeat the Los Angeles Kings in regulation.
The St. Louis Blues will clinch a playoff spot:
- If they defeat the Minnesota Wild in any fashion.
OR
- If they get one point against the Minnesota Wild and either the Columbus Blue Jackets defeat the Los Angeles Kings in any fashion or the Edmonton Oilers defeat the Vegas Golden Knights in regulation.
OR
- If the Columbus Blue Jackets defeat the Los Angeles Kings in regulation.
