The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced on Monday that Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin will have a hearing for cross-checking Nashville Predators defenceman Mark Borowiecki.
At the end of the second period during Sunday's game, Malkin and Borowiecki were engaged in a scrum, which saw the Penguins forward cross-check the Predators defenceman in the face. Malkin was given a four-minute minor for high-sticking, while Borowiecki got a two-minute for slashing.
Malkin, 35, has been suspended once before in his career. In February of 2019, he was handed a one game suspension for high-sticking then-Philadelphia Flyers forward Michael Raffl.

This, from Evgeni Malkin, should absolutely warrant a suspension. pic.twitter.com/L6o6V9oAol— Scott Wheeler (@scottcwheeler) April 10, 2022
