With a win in any fashion over the Buffalo Sabres, the Carolina Hurricanes will become the first team in the Metropolitan Division to clinch a playoff spot. It would also be the fourth straight season that the Hurricanes have qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Hurricanes are led by Sebastian Aho, who has 69 points, followed by Andrei Svechnikov who has 60. In goal, Frederik Andersen is having a Vezina calibre season.
