Clayton Keller of the Arizona Coyotes acknowledges his season is over. Keller, who was involved in a terrible incident in Wednesday night's game against the San Jose Sharks where he lost his footing and went into the end boards awkwardly, released a statement from hospital early Thursday morning thanking everyone for their support.
"Want to thank my teammates, the fans, and medical personnel for the love and support last night! Unfortunately the season's over for me, but I'm resting comfortably at the hospital in good spirits. I will be back better than ever for day 1 next season!!!!
Keller was just two points away from tying a career high when the injury happened. There was no one else involved. It was simply an unfortunate accident where he lost his footing at a very bad time.
The Coyotes stated Keller had a "leg injury" following the game. While there's been no official update, it's very likely at least one of his legs is broken. You can view the full aftermath of the collision below. Keller was removed by stretcher and transported to hospital.
