The Boston Bruins made a big splash on Saturday, acquiring defencemen Hampus Lindholm and Kodie Curran from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for defencemen Urho Vaakanainen, John Moore, a 2022 first round pick, a 2023 second round pick and a 2024 second round pick.

Lindholm and the Ducks were engaged in contract extension talks throughout the week, but things stalled, which led to the trade on Saturday.

According to TSN's Chris Johnston, the Bruins are expected to sign Lindholm to an eight-year contract extension in the range of $6.5 million per season.

The Helsingborg (Sweden) native spent parts of nine seasons with the Anaheim Ducks after they selected him with the sixth overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. In 582-career games with Anaheim, the 28-year-old had 222 points (57 G, 165 A), 314 penalty minutes, and was a +74.

Lindholm is likely to join up with his new team at some point on Sunday, but it's unclear if he'll play on Monday night when Boston heads to Montreal to take on the Canadiens.
