Former Canucks forward Jake Virtanen has found himself in trouble over his years of playing hockey, and now a new development has emerged regarding his contract in the KHL.

The forward's contract has been reportedly "terminated for violating the terms of the agreement." Spartak Moscow retains his KHL rights.

What he did exactly is still in question. Nevertheless, since it's been ruled that he violated the agreement, Virtanen will be required to pay back two-thirds of the remaining contract amount.

The 25-year-old had 16 points (9 goals, 7 assists) in 36 games this season in the KHL with HC Spartak Moscow. The team is currently playing in the KHL playoffs. Almost all foreigners with teams taking part in the league's postseason have left and returned home. However, in those cases, it was made clear that they were leaving due Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the uncertainty that comes along with it.

Virtanen is currently facing a charge of sexual assault in Canada stemming from an incident in 2017 when he was playing for the Vancouver Canucks.
