In a late night trade, the Edmonton Oilers have announced that they've dealt goaltender Alex Stalock to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for future considerations.

The 34-year-old didn't play at all during the 2020-21 season after he was diagnosed with myocarditis. Edmonton claimed Stalock off waivers from the Minnesota Wild last March.

Stalock hasn't played in the NHL since prior to the league's COVID-19 shutdown in March of 2020.

In order to get him into some games, the Oilers assigned him to the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League, where he has a 3-1-0 record with a 3.81 G.A.A., and an .862 save percentage.

The St. Paul native was originally drafted by the San Jose Sharks all the way back in 2005 and spent parts of seven seasons in the organization, including 64 games at the NHL level.
