Tuesday night was apparently a messy one of the Swedish hockey league (SHL). Two players have received suspensions after incidents in two separate games, one involving a pretty hard headbutt, and the other an awful hit from behind.

Jesper Pettersson of Linköping, who spent some time in the AHL and ECHL, was apparently not happy with how Vaxjo celebrated their second goal of the night. While the team was celebrating in front of the net, Pettersson headbutted Martin Lundberg hard in the face and was tossed from the game. He's received a two game suspension as a result.

Meanwhile, Juhani Tyrväinen of Lulea, who has spent his entire playing career in Europe, delivered a reckless hit from behind on Canadian Joey Laleggia of Timra. Tyrväinen was tossed from the game and has now been suspended for four matches by the league. He was given extra time as this is not his first ban from the SHL.
