Gary Bettman joined the Pat McAfee show today and dropped a major bombshell about the NHL and the Olympics.
Bettman Comments On NHL Return To The Olympics
During his time on the Pat McAfee the group talked about the NHL and the Olympics. Bettman confirmed two major things during the segment.
The first is that the NHL did this because the players very much wanted to come back to the Olympics. The second thing he confirmed is that the NHL continues to make no money by allowing their players to go to the Olympics.

If we can make it happen with the IOC and the appropriate arrangements are made, we are going to go
This shows that if the NHL players do indeed return to the Olympics it will be the league doing the players and fans a favor. They will not benefit at least monetarily from the Olympics themselves with the move.
