Massive news has come out about a punishment for a situation from involving the Ottawa Senators.

Senators Facing Severe Punishment From The NHL

Today it was announced that the Ottawa Senators will be facing a major punishment for their handling of the Evgenii Dadonov trade in 2021. The Senators mishandled his contract and it made a trade between them and the Anaheim Ducks invalid.

Due to this situation, the Ottawa Senators are going to be losing a first-round pick in one of the next three years.

The #GoSensGo are losing a 1st round pick in 2024, 2025 or 2026 due to the Dadonov ordeal.

Per the NHL: "The determination as to which pick will be forfeited will be made by Ottawa within 24 hours of the conclusion of the Draft Lottery for that year."

The pick will be forfeited and just be skipped in whatever draft the Senators choose. If they decide to keep their 2024 and 2025 picks their 2026 pick will automatically be lost.

As the draft comes closer in 2024 and the Senators season comes to an end this will become a major talking point once again.
