In recent weeks, one of the most talked about names on the trade market has been Vladimir Tarasenko after it was confirmed that he asked the St. Louis Blues to be moved this offseason.

Most have assumed that it was a guarantee that Tarasenko would be wearing a different uniform for the 2021-22 season, but that may not be the case. On Thursday afternoon, Blues general manager Doug Armstrong spoke to media about Tarasenko and said he won't trade him if he doesn't like the return.

«As of today, Vladdy is a member of the Blues,» said Armstrong. «This is not something I am going to be updating on after this call today. Whatever we do will be done behind closed doors. Vladdy has to prepare like he's coming back to St. Louis. He has to get ready to play. He's a 30-year-old who I'm sure wants to play for a number of years in the NHL. He has to come back and have a great season.»

While Armstrong hasn't ruled it out, it still seems likely Tarasenko will be moved given how uncomfortable the situation in the locker room could become if he were to return. Though he has struggled with injuries in recent years, reports are that he is fully healthy and can be expected to be the elite goal scorer he was just a few short seasons ago.
