While the New York Islanders players put forth a fantastic effort in Game 6 to eliminate the Boston Bruins on Wednesday night, head coach Barry Trotz made it clear that the fans deserved the credit for the 6-2 victory.
«What a great atmosphere,» Trotz said. «I was saying just before we came on here (that) it was deafening. I couldn't hear anything out there. I had some white noise for awhile, so that's fantastic.»
The Islanders crowd, who is known for being one of the more energetic crowds in the entire NHL, had some fun in Game 6, including breaking out a «New York Saints» chant, which was what Bruins head coach referred to them as to the media after Game 5. With the win, the Islanders have advanced to the final four and will take on the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference Final. The Islanders will be underdogs for the third straight series in a row in what should be a very entertaining one to watch.
