The Dallas Stars have got some big time prospects coming through the organization, but unfortunately for one, he won't find his way into international play.

Drafted in the first round of the 2022 NHL Draft, 19-year old Lian Bichsel is expected to be a potential star of the future for the Dallas Stars, but unfortunately, it appears as though he won't find himself on the international stage anytime soon. Despite playing well in the top level in Sweden lately, Bichsel is not expected to be nominated by Head Coach Patrick Fisher, and he's now explained why.

»He won't be an issue until and including the 2026 home World Cup. It would be very difficult to get him into the team. Many players don't understand that he let us down twice."

"If it had been about the senior national team, Lian would probably have come. And that's not right. If I had called him up last, I would have lost credibility and face with the team ."

Reportedly, Bichsel did not opt to play at the junior level for Switzerland on several occasions, opting to relax ahead of the next season and last time out, citing his commitment to his current team in the SHL. That hasn't sat well with the senior team, as Fisher reveals Bichsel let them down twice, and now he will need to earn his way back into favour with the international team in the next few years.
