Earlier this week following a meeting with doctors it was determined that Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price would have to restart his knee rehab due to long breaks away from the rink. The NHL's extended holiday break and Montreal's COVID-19 shutdown are particularly to blame in this situation.

Price has yet to play this season due to having knee surgery in the summer and entering the NHL/NHLA Player Assistance program in early October.

According to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports, Price still wants to play this season and is expected to be on the ice in roughly two weeks time.

"Carey Price should be back on the ice in around two weeks, if everything is going according to plan. He wants to play this season. Hope is that swelling won't reappear in his knee. Time will tell," Lavoie said in a tweet on Saturday night.

If Carey Price returns to the crease this season it will be interesting to see if that will be with the Canadiens or another organization, depending on the route newly-appointed general manager Kent Hughes decides to go. Any trade involving Carey Price would have to be approved by him as he has a no-movement clause. The Canadiens would also have to retain upwards of 50% of his salary to accommodate a move.
