News is coming out of Vancouver on Monday that the Canucks have approved a leave of absence for goaltender Jacob Markstrom to deal with a personal family matter.

“Jacob Markstrom has been granted a leave of absence to attend to a family matter and is expected to rejoin the Canucks on the road this weekend. Respectfully, we will not offer any further comment.”

Vancouver has a busy schedule this week with four games in six nights. This will be a good opportunity for Thatcher Demko to get his feet wet as he stands a good chance of starting three of the club's next four games.

The Canucks are off to a 2-2-0 start through the teams first four games of the season.
