According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Edmonton Oilers have placed goaltender Alex Stalock on waivers.
The 34-year-old missed the entire 2020-21 season and the start of the 2021-22 season after he developed a heart condition following a bout with COVID-19. Stalock is in the final year of a three-year contract he signed with the Minnesota Wild back in 2019 and is making $785,000 per season.
Minnesota placed Stalock on waivers and he was claimed by the Edmonton Oilers on March 1st, 2021. With the Oilers having goaltending issues between Mike Smith's injuries and Mikko Koskinen's poor and inconsistent play, it's possible that Stalock get an opportunity to play in the near future.
Stalock (EDM) on waivers. That means he has signed with the Oilers as he begins his comeback. Good luck on his return— Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) January 14, 2022
