Last night, former Montreal Canadiens General Manager Marc Bergevin was hired by the Los Angeles Kings in a consulting capacity as Senior Advisor to General Manager Rob Blake.
Despite the new gig, Bergevin may not be with the Kings long-term. During Monday's 32 Thoughts podcast, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman mentioned that he believes Bergevin has his eyes set on the vacant General Manager role with the Anaheim Ducks.
"I think what it means is it keeps Bergevin's feet in the game right now, but he's still going to look to get the big chair somewhere else, I'm assuming he's got his eye on Anaheim in particular," Friedman said on Monday.
The Ducks have been without a General Manager since early-November after Bob Murray was placed on administrative leave following an investigation related to professional conduct. A few days later, Murray resigned as general manager and entered an alcohol abuse program.
Last Tuesday, TSN's Pierre LeBrun revealed that the Anaheim Ducks were beginning the process of finding their new GM, and that franchise legends Scott Niedermayer and Paul Kariya were among those that were going to help with the search.
