John Klingberg has reportedly requested a trade from the Stars
According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, John Klingberg has requested to be traded from the Dallas Stars.
Klingberg, 29, is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer and has a cap hit of just $4.25 million. There were reports this summer that his agent and the Stars were working on signing an extension, but nothing was able to get worked out at the time. If Pagnotta is correct here, a new deal won't be happening now given that he reportedly wants out of town.
If Klingberg is indeed requesting a trade, there were will be tons of suitors for the Swedish rearguard. As mentioned previously, he is on a very team friendly deal and is capable of putting up points in bunches. So far in 2021-22, he has suited up for 25 games and recorded 16 points.
