19-year-old Russian hockey player dies in tragic crash

The Nizhnekamsk Reaktor of Russia's MHL are mourning the loss of a teammate. Nikita Mokeyev, a 19-year-old forward with the team, was killed in a car crash on Monday.

According to reports, Mokeyev was driving a car on the Orenburg-Kazan highway when he moved over the pass another car and lost control. He and his passenger crashed head-on into an oncoming truck. Mokeyev was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger remains in hospital.

As you can see in the photo below, there is little remaining of the car after the collision.

Mokeyev played 38 games in the MHL the season, scoring two goals and 12 points. He had played a total of 97 games in the league during his career. Our sincere condolences to his family, teammates, friends and fans.
