Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid released how he felt about the Beijing Olympics on Tuesday. Of course, he wants to represent his country, and being one of the best players in the world, fans across the globe are hoping to see him play at the international level.
According to The Canadian Press' Joshua Clipperton, Connor McDavid told media in Edmonton about the idea of a potential quaranting of three to five weeks due to a positive COVID-19 test at the Beijing Olympics as being «unsettling.»
McDavid would not go on to say if he was in or out of the Olympics at this moment, but it seems that these new protocols are a huge roadblock for NHL players.
Now there seems to be a «Plan B» in place in case NHL players are unable to participate in the games. According to ESPN's Greg Wyshynski, USA Hockey's John Vanbiesbrouck says that the AHL, NCAA, and international players would be a part of the plan if the NHL were to opt out of the 2022 Beijing Games.
All fans can do for now is hope that the protocol is not too much for the players, or maybe it could be lessened a little bit to make it more realistic and intriguing for players to want to partake in the event.
