Following Wednesday's practice, Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar announced to the media that star forward Nathan MacKinnon will miss roughly three weeks with a lower-body injury.

MacKinnon suffered the injury during Saturday night's 4-2 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The 26-year-old has played in eight of Colorado's ten games this season. In those eight games, he's recorded ten points (one goal, nine assists), four penalty minutes, and is a minus-three.

It's not all bad news for the Avalanche though. Defenceman Cale Makar and forward Valeri Nichushkin will return to the lineup on Thursday night when the Avalanche take on the Vancouver Canucks.
