Blackhawks show off Marc-Andre Fleury's SICK new goalie mask

It's been a rough start to his Chicago Blackhawks for veteran netminder Marc-Andre Fleury after being acquired this offseason from his former team, the Vegas Golden Knights.

Through 8 starts this season, Fleury has posted a forgettable 1-7-0 record to go along with career-worsts in both GAA with 4.11 and SV% with a .881.

Since the very beginning, Fleury's tenure as a Blackhawk was a rough one, as he reportedly pondered retirement briefly, before ultimately agreeing to report. Once he did decide to report, perhaps you'll remember that the Blackhawks mis-spelled his last name on his jersey. Another issue related to his goalie mask, which he was pretty limited with, due to wanting to avoid cultural appropriation.

Well, with his nameplate showing the correct spelling and a new mask to show off, Fleury just needs to worry about getting his game back to a place that is more fitting of a goaltender of his stature to have completely turned his tenure with the team around.

On Sunday, the Blackhawks revealed this beauty of a mask for Flower, which features authentic indigenous artwork by Ojibwe artist Patrick Hunter.

Fleury is the reigning Vezina Trophy winner, so it's a pretty good bet that he'll get the details of his game ironed out. The other factor is that the Blackhawks blueline features some new faces, and an adjustment period was probably to be expected.

Now, with the team having cleaned house from the higher-level executives, right down to the coaching staff, the Blackhawks have stripped this thing down to the studs and plan to build this team back up properly.

Hopefully with some new minds surrounding the team and some fresh ideas, the Hawks can string together some wins and provide their netminders with some additional support as they press forward and try to put a horrendous start in their rearview mirror.
