Alex Tuch bids farewell to Vegas after being traded to the Buffalo Sabres in the Eichel deal

It's a day of mixed emotions for Alex Tuch, one of the key pieces in the deal that saw the Vegas Golden Knights acquire disgruntled forward and former Buffalo Sabres captain, Jack Eichel.

On one hand, Tuch is going to be departing a team and a city that he has called home since the Vegas expansion draft. On the other, the New York native is headed a lot closer to home.

On Thursday, Tuch took to Twitter to bid a fond farewell to the Vegas Golden Knights organization and to also let Sabres fans know how excited he is to be on his way home.

"First of all, I want to take a moment to thank the entire city of Las Vegas for allowing my family and I to call it home for the past 4.5 years," Tuch began.

"I want to thank The Foley Family, the rest of the Knights' ownership group, and the team's management for giving me the opportunity to put on the Golden Knights jersey. Most of all, I want to thank all of my teammates that I've played with in Vegas.

"I am going to miss the great group they have there. Now I want to say how excited I am to be a part of the Buffalo Sabres organization. Being from Upstate NY, it's been a dream of mine to put on the Sabres jersey. Thank you Buffalo and I can't wait to get started!"

Tuch is still a ways away from returning to action, after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery in July. His original timeline for recovery was expected to be 4-6 months, so he's sure to begin his tenure as a Buffalo Sabre on LTIR.
