A mock trade has Simon Edvinsson landing with the Sharks, and Detroit getting Darnell Nurse, Filip Bystedt, Quentin Musty and a first-round pick.
San Jose beat Vancouver 3-2 last night and sits at 7-6-1. The record looks fine on the surface.
The goals against column tells a different story. The Sharks have allowed 47 and carry a goal differential of -7.
The proposal comes from the fan account CheechYou, posted Friday. It is a fan mock, not a report. San Jose gets Edvinsson, while Detroit gets Bystedt, Musty, Nurse and a 2027 first.
Edvinsson hasn't played this season. He is listed on IR with a contract dispute, out indefinitely, and rival teams have called Detroit's asking price for Simon Edvinsson unrealistic, according to Di Marco.
The post lays out the full Sharks lineup it imagines after the deal, with Edvinsson opening on the left side of the defense.

The author builds the forward lines and defense pairs around the trade and has Edvinsson skating next to Michael Kesselring.

Look closer and the lineup has a problem. Igor Chernyshov is listed on IR and expected out until at least Nov 14.
Alexander Wennberg is listed on IR too, expected out until at least Nov 9. Eric Pohlkamp, meanwhile, hasn't played a game this season.
Why Detroit would hang up on Nurse and a first
Start with Nurse. He is 31, and his cap hit is $9,250,000 through 2029-2030.
A team asking a king's ransom doesn't want that contract coming back. Detroit would be taking on a long, expensive deal for a defenseman who played 23:01 last night and finished without a point.
The prospects don't move the needle either. Bystedt has one NHL game, a -1, and Musty has none.
That leaves the 2027 first as the only real asset, and one pick won't match what Detroit is reportedly asking for.
Edvinsson's numbers show why teams keep calling. He has 175 career games and 60 points, and he is only 23.
He was also the sixth overall pick in 2021. That is a lot for a first-round pick and a pair of unproven names to cover.
Seattle has been tied to him as well. The Kraken were floated as a fit, and David Pagnotta's Kraken fit for Edvinsson came with a Shane Wright element attached.
Detroit is 6-4-3 and has won two straight, with Todd McLellan's group beating Chicago 4-1 on Thursday. That leaves Shawn Horcoff with no pressure to take a discount on a player who isn't even in the lineup.
The standoff may be the real story here, and neither side looks ready to blink.
Would you give up Darnell Nurse and a 2027 first for Simon Edvinsson if he hasn't played this season?
