A fan-built trade pitch sending Kirby Dach from the Montreal Canadiens to Washington for Ivan Miroshnichenko picked up steam Sunday.

The full package: Adam Engstrom, Dach and a 2027 second-round pick for Miroshnichenko. The account behind it says the Capitals forward “has shot up the trade board.”

The crowd isn't buying it. With voting still open, 46.9% of the 651 voters say Montreal hangs up.

Another 27.6% figure Washington walks away, leaving 25.5% who'd sign off on it.

The Dach side of the pitch makes sense on paper. The 25-year-old hasn't scored through 10 games and sits at -4.

His $3,600,000 cap hit has bought Montreal 2 assists so far.

Miroshnichenko, meanwhile, has dressed for 3 of Washington's 10 games. His only goal came on the power play.

Miroshnichenko has shot up the trade board for me. Habs should be all over this.

Fan trade proposal packages Kirby Dach with two more Canadiens assets for Ivan Miroshnichenko

Engstrom is a 22-year-old defenseman on an $896,666 cap hit.

He's posted a +2 rating through 5 games, even without a point to show for it.

Kent Hughes should hang up. Tossing a cheap young defenseman and a pick into a deal just to move Dach is a bad trade, whatever the final poll says.

Betting that much on the Capitals forward's early sample is like judging a restaurant off the bread basket.

And what would Washington even do with Dach?

The Capitals are 6-4-0 after a 4-3 overtime win over Buffalo on Saturday.

They've also beaten Montreal once this season, 5-4 on October 14.

Spencer Carbery isn't exactly hurting for young forwards, either. Ryan Leonard already has 8 points at 21.

Engstrom is the piece that might get Chris Patrick's attention. Vincent Desharnais is out until at least December 5 with an abdomen injury.

Martin St-Louis has holes of his own up front. Nick Suzuki is out until at least November 18 with an upper-body injury.

Ivan Demidov is sidelined until at least October 31 too, and the Canadiens are 5-3-2 heading into tonight's game in Winnipeg.

If the goal column stays empty much longer, the next Dach trade pitch won't need a fan account to write it.
