Two more Penguins enter the NHL's COVID protocol on Thursday. According to Pittsburgh head coach Mike Sullivan, veteran forward Jeff Carter and goaltender Tristian Jarry have been placed on the league's protocol list.

Sullivan added that Jeff Carter has tested positive and that both players are currently asymptomatic.

The Penguins don't play again until Saturday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs, so their goaltending situation for that game has yet to be determined.

Carter and Jarry join Winnipeg Jets forward Mark Scheifele entered the league's protocol earlier on Thursday. Scheifele and captain Blake Wheeler are among the Jets players that are currently in protocol, and there is a chance that Scheifele may play on Thursday night against Anaheim.

Scheifele is asymptomatic and has tested negative according to TSN's Chris Johnston. If Scheifele's second test produces a negative result, he'll be able to play in the Jets' home opener. The results of Scheifele's second test won't be known til closer to puck drop.

Jets head coach Paul Maurice said he's spoken with both Scheifele and Wheeler today and they're in good spirits. He added that Scheifele is optimistic that he'll be cleared to play tonight.
