Dylan Larkin's time with the Red Wings may be down to days. John Buccigross believes a trade is about to land in Detroit.

Buccigross said Friday on Frankly Hockey that information he received the night before points to a deal getting done.

“I think there's going to be a trade within 7 to 10 days in Detroit,” he said.

When Seravalli asked if it has to be Larkin, the answer came fast. “Yeah, Larkin.”

The former captain still wants out, and the trade talks have been ongoing. Tonight's home game against San Jose could be one of his last in front of that crowd.

Get it done. Dragging this into December only turns every pregame skate into a referendum on a player who's already halfway out the door.

Right now it's like living with a roommate who's already given notice. Everybody still shares the kitchen, but nobody's pretending it's permanent.

The Red Wings' western road trip lands right in the trade window

Do the math on that window. It lands squarely on a four-game road trip through Seattle, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton.

The Red Wings' only road game so far was a shootout loss in Montreal.

The 30-year-old carries an $8,700,000 cap hit and has three points in five games.

Hardly a line that drives up the price in October. Interim GM Shawn Horcoff will have to sell what Larkin has been more than what he's shown so far.

And Detroit can't afford to lose offense for nothing. The Red Wings have scored just 16 goals in seven games and sit last in the Atlantic.

Alex DeBrincat has carried the load with eight points. Lucas Raymond is still looking for his first goal.

Injuries thin the forward group further. Marco Kasper and J.T. Compher are both on injured reserve.

So who fills the hole? Nate Danielson and Emmitt Finnie would be next in line for bigger roles under Todd McLellan.

If Buccigross is right, Larkin's next game in Detroit might come in another team's sweater. The bigger question is whether Horcoff gets a return worth the wait.
