Evan Rodrigues was handed a double-minor for high-sticking Marco Rossi, and Canucks fans think the Devils forward got off easy.

The frame shows Rossi, No. 23, face down on the ice with his stick lying beside him as skates move past.

One frustrated Canucks fan argued it should have been a five-minute major and a game misconduct instead.

Even Gino Hard put "high-sticking" in quotation marks when he shared the clip.

If the stick went where Vancouver fans say it did, four minutes is light. At the very least, it deserves a longer look than it got on the ice.

To the Canucks bench, it probably felt like getting a parking ticket for driving through the front window of a store.

Rossi has 3 goals this season, second only to Paul Cotter on the Canucks.

Evan Rodrigues escapes major punishment after high-sticking Marco Rossi

Vancouver fell 4-1 to the Devils, its third straight loss.

The Canucks also lost 7-2 in Carolina on Thursday, so this road trip has gotten ugly in a hurry.

Rossi doesn't appear on the injury report at the moment, which is the one piece of good news for Manny Malhotra.

Malhotra is only six games into his first season behind the Vancouver bench, and the heat is already building.

Vancouver has already allowed 29 goals this season.

Elias Pettersson leads the Canucks with 8 points, 2 of them power-play goals.

Rodrigues still has no points and sits at -4 on a $3,075,000 cap hit.

He's the same forward who was reportedly part of Florida's Connor Hellebuyck offer before landing in New Jersey.

The Devils improved to 2-2-0 with the win.

Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt have 4 points apiece, and Nico Hischier owns 2 power-play goals.

Does the Department of Player Safety take a second look at this one?

Vancouver visits the Rangers on Sunday, while New Jersey hosts Ottawa on Monday.

These teams meet again Feb. 3 in Vancouver. That's a long wait, but nobody in that building will need a reminder.
