Nick Suzuki and Martin St-Louis now know exactly what Montreal will wear when the Canadiens step outside against Winnipeg.

The NHL and Fanatics unveiled the new Heritage Classic uniforms Wednesday morning, giving both clubs a fresh outdoor look weeks before puck drop in Winnipeg.

Montreal is leaning hard into its history. The Canadiens will wear red, blue and vintage off-white, with a redesigned CH crest built to resemble versions worn in earlier eras.

There's another detail that will jump out inside the sweater. “Les Habitants” appears on the back collar for the first time, while a fleur-de-lis sits on the loop label.

Winnipeg went in a different direction. The Jets are bringing back the visual feel of their 1980s and 1990s uniforms, but placing that identity on a white Heritage Classic sweater.

The felt crests, stitched detailing and throwback colours make both uniforms look built for an outdoor game rather than another standard alternate jersey.

Heritage Classic suddenly feels much closer

The timing matters. Montreal visits Winnipeg at Princess Auto Stadium on October 25, with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. NHL

For the Canadiens, this will be their fifth outdoor regular-season game. They carry a 2-2-0 record into the event and haven't played outside since 2017.

The Jets are preparing for their third outdoor appearance after previous Heritage Classic games against Edmonton and Calgary. This time, the setting puts two Canadian clubs with deep visual identities on the same stage.

And Winnipeg's sweater has its own small details worth catching. An all-new streaking jet graphic sits near the hem, while the numbers use a two-layer felt treatment.

For Montreal, the biggest win is restraint. The Canadiens didn't abandon the familiar red and blue look just to manufacture something different for one night.

Instead, the sweater pulls older design cues into a cleaner outdoor package. That gives Suzuki, St-Louis and the rest of the Canadiens a jersey that still looks unmistakably Montreal.

The uniforms are available beginning Wednesday, with a broader retail release set for Thursday.

The jerseys are now out. The next reveal comes under the lights in Winnipeg, where the throwback look will finally hit the ice.
