Shane Wright's name is out there, and the trade interest around him is real, according to Elliotte Friedman.
"He's definitely out there and there definitely is interest," Friedman said on 32 Thoughts.
But Seattle isn't giving him away, and that's the part teams calling need to understand before they even pick up the phone.
"The Kraken believe that this is still a young player with a lot of potential, and they want that rewarded in any kind of trade," Friedman said.
Wright posted 27 points in 74 games this season, with 12 goals and a plus-6 rating for a Kraken team that finished 34-37-11.
He's still just 22 years old and carries a modest $886,667 cap hit, the kind of contract that makes him appealing regardless of what his box score says right now.
Seattle finished 27th overall this season under head coach Lane Lambert, a season that clearly didn't go the way the organization hoped.

GM Jason Botterill has to weigh two things here. A former No. 4 overall pick who hasn't broken out yet, and the possibility he still does exactly that somewhere else.
That tension is exactly why this stays a slow-moving story instead of a done deal.
Wright's production dipped in his last 10 games, managing just 3 points, and that stretch isn't helping Seattle's leverage in real time.
But potential doesn't disappear over a cold streak, and the Kraken clearly still believe in the long-term upside more than the recent numbers suggest.
Any team calling Seattle about Wright needs to bring futures, not just a change of scenery offer.
Until somebody meets that price, Wright stays exactly where he is. The interest is real. So is Seattle's patience.
