Max Domi is engaged. The Maple Leafs winger shared the news Sunday, and it landed like one of the few feel-good stories of a rough season in Toronto.
The photos, first shared by Leafslatest, show Domi and his fiancée on a sprawling property with their golden retriever parked right between them.
No fireworks, no big production. Just a guy kneeling in the grass with his dog and the woman he's about to marry.
Domi didn't name her in the announcement, and neither did the accounts sharing it. That part of the story stays private for now.
What isn't private is the season Domi just put together, and it wasn't pretty. He finished with 12 goals, 24 assists and a minus-29 rating over 80 games.
That minus-29 is the kind of number that gets circled in exit meetings. His last 10 games of the year produced exactly three points.
Carrying a $3,750,000 cap hit, Domi's underlying numbers put him squarely in the conversation about who sticks around and who doesn't in Toronto.

The Maple Leafs aren't the same team Domi finished the season with. Jim Hiller was hired as head coach on June 17, taking over a group that stumbled to the finish line.
Toronto closed the year 32-36-14 with a minus-46 goal differential, dropping seven straight to end the campaign, including a 1-3 loss at Ottawa.
That's not the record of a team that has everything figured out. New voice behind the bench, same core questions in front of it.
Domi's game-winning goal total, three on the year, showed flashes of what he can still bring in tight moments. The consistency around it just wasn't there.
