Dylan Larkin's market just grew again, and David Pagnotta tossed three fresh names into the chase for the Red Wings captain.

On Morning Cuppa Hockey, Pagnotta laid it out. There's a lot of people talking about Dallas, people talking about San Jose, and Utah is another one.

Notice the through-line. Dallas keeps coming up, appearing on Pagnotta's list and Elliotte Friedman's earlier one too.

That overlap is the tell. When two insiders name the same team independently, that's usually where the smoke is thickest.

The other two names are the curveballs, and they say something about how wide this market has gotten.

Pagnotta's wording was casual, but three contender-adjacent teams in one breath signals a seller with real leverage.

San Jose and Utah have the cap room the contenders lack

Start with Dallas, the constant. The Stars finished third overall with 112 points, an obvious win-now home for a center like Larkin.

The trouble is the cap sheet. Mikko Rantanen alone eats $12 million, and squeezing in Larkin's $8.7 million would force Dallas to subtract something real.

That's the recurring problem with the contenders. They want him. They can't easily afford him.

The risers don't have that issue. Utah piled up 92 points behind Clayton Keller's 88, with cap flexibility a contender would envy and a roster on the playoff doorstep.

San Jose is the fascinating one. The Sharks are rebuilding, but they have a generational teenager in Macklin Celebrini, who put up 115 points at age 19.

Dropping a veteran like Larkin alongside that kid would add leadership and a second scoring center. Strange on the surface, smart underneath.

Here's my read: Dallas is the cleanest on-ice fit and the hardest to fit financially. Utah and San Jose can fit the money, but the timing question hangs over both.

And the wildcard never changes. Larkin handed Steve Yzerman a short list, and nobody has confirmed whether any of these three made it.

A captain with that contract goes where he approves, full stop. Insiders can name ten teams. Larkin holds the veto.

So the list of suitors keeps growing while the list that actually matters stays hidden. That's the part worth watching.
