According to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports, the Montreal Canadiens have signed defenceman Cody Goloubef to a professional tryout contract and he'll be joining the team in Brossard for training camp beginning on Wednesday.
Goloubef, 31, has played in 160 career games in the National Hockey League with Columbus, Colorado, Ottawa and Detroit. He spent the 2020-21 season in the American Hockey League with the Belleville Senators where he tallied six points (4 G, 2 A), 33 penalty minutes and was a -8 in 31 games.
The Missisauga, Ontario native will be competing with
Chris Wideman,
Brett Kulak,
Mattias Norlinder among others for a spot on the Canadiens third pairing.
