Future Hall-of-Famer Zdeno Chara is returning to the place where his NHL career began. According to Kevin Weekes with the NHL Network, Chara is signing a one-year deal with the New York Islanders.

Chara, who is best known for his years with the Boston Bruins, started his career on Long Island after being drafted by the Isles in 1996. After several years in Boston, he spent last season with the Washington Capitals. The hulking defenceman has played over 1600 regular season games in the NHL.
