Legendary play-by-play announcer appears to be leaving Hockey Night in Canada
Hockey Night In Canada may be looking at one pretty major change heading into the 2021-22 season, as rumour has it that veteran play-by-play announcer Jim Hughson will not be calling games for HNIC this season.
Hughson's sports commentary career stretches back a long time, dating back to 1979 when he began as a commentator for the Vancouver Canucks.
Through the course of his career, Hughson also saw time as an announcer for the Toronto Maple Leafs and also did some play-by-play work for Montreal Expos and Toronto Blue Jay's in Major League Baseball.
At this point, it is unclear as to who will take Hughson's spot in the broadcast booth.
If true, and if HNIC has no plans of bringing Hughson back next season, it is truly the end of an era for a legendary program.
