Phil Kessel was reportedly nearly traded during the latest draft

Phil Kessel has been involved in trade rumors for much of the offseason, and reportedly he nearly got his wish to leave Arizona.

According to Sportsnet's Elliott Friedman, Kessel was nearly traded at the draft to the San Jose Sharks. The team was reportedly very interested in acquiring the veteran winger, and this also would have been huge, as he plays far too well versus San Jose.

The 33-year-old scored 20 goals last season, 10 coming against the Sharks. Along with this he put up 13 points in just 8 games versus San Jose. So for anyone wondering about percentages, he scored over 30% of his points against the team during the 2020-21 season.

Friedman also reported that the talks are dead between the two teams and a move for Kessel to San Jose will not be happening.

Kessel scored 43 points in 56 games last season for Arizona, proving that he is still a worthy veteran.
