The Vancouver Canucks are continuing to try and hammer out a new deal with restricted free agent Elias Pettersson. The 22-year-old Swede is a huge part of the organization's present and future as it attempts to get back to competing for the playoffs. However, in a new interview in his home country, Petterson doesn't necessarily seem crazy about remaining a Canuck.

"I want to stay there now, but I also want to play for a team that's winning and has the chance to go far into the playoffs every year," said Pettersson. "If we have that chance when my next deal expires ... I don't know. I just want to play where there's a chance of winning."

"My agents do all the talking (with the Canucks), and then they inform me about what's going on. Right now, we're not in an agreement, but I'm not worried that we're not going to solve it eventually," he said.

According to Canucks Insider Rick Daliwhal, the two sides are not close on a new deal, although talks continue. Pettersson has just concluded a contract that paid him $3.775 million AAV. The former fifth overall pick in 2017 has been close to a point-per-game player in the NHL so far, managing 65 goals and 153 points in 165 career games.
