While Bergevin stressed that some tests still need to be done, he called Price's injuries "nothing alarming" and "nothing major." He added Price may need six to eight weeks off the ice to recover once everything was said and done. If that holds, Price will miss no time whatsoever.
A couple of interesting points on this. Francis never explained why, exactly, he didn't pick Price, simply saying the team decided to "go in a different direction" by selecting young defenceman Cale Fleury. If the rumours of the injuries were a deterrent, either the media really helped out Bergevin in this case, or perhaps Bergevin was the one who planted in the seed in the first place. Of course, it could be that Francis simply didn't want to take on the rest of Price's contract. Either way, Montreal got off fairly easy in the Seattle expansion draft, losing a non-roster player without giving up any assets.
The news for Montreal's Shea Weber is not nearly as good. Bergevin explained at his press conference that Weber is unlikely to play next season and may not play in the NHL again. You can read more about that here..
