While last night's game at Denver's Ball Arena between the Colorado Avalanche and New Jersey Devils was a low scoring affair for the 1st 40 minutes, Colorado broke the dam in the 3rd period with several goals en route to a 5-2 win.
Devils goaltender Jake Allen had a particularly rough outing by allowing four goals in the 3rd period.
Following Colorado's 5th goal of the game with 1:42 left, Allan appeared to have had enough and immediately skated to the bench and stormed down the tunnel toward the locker room.
And while it appeared that he pulled himself out of frustration, Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe later clarified that Allen had been suffering from a cramping issue during the game which then became too much to bear.
Allen, who is 9-13-1 with a 2.70 GAA, is in his first full year with the Devils after being brought aboard at last year's Trade Deadline from the Montreal Canadiens; he has split time in the crease along with starter Jacob Markstrom, who has had his share of injury woes.
Like Allen, Markstrom is also playing in his first full year with the Devils.
