Jordan Binnington is in net for game three of the Four Nations, and Team Canada Head Coach Jon Cooper has now defended the controversial decision.

Through two games of the Four Nations Face Off, Team Canada have one OT win and a regulation defeat, and ahead of their must-win battle with Finland, many fans and analysts were calling for the team to try something new in net.

The team would stick behind St. Louis Blues starter Jordan Binnington however, and while the decision has drawn plenty of criticism, Head Coach Jon Cooper has defended the move despite having proven winner Adin Hill behind him in the depth chart.

"Not difficult at all. Listen, the kid has played great for us," Cooper said about Binnington. "He's given us a chance to win... If you can limit an opponent to two goals or less in a game, it should give you a chance to win, and he's done that for us. He did it for us the other night... He's given us a chance to win the last two games, and unfortunately, it didn't happen, but we gotta give him a little run support."

Despite the criticism, Binnington has allowed just five goals through two games this tournament, with the star studded forward group struggling against the United States, as Cooper said this was an easy call given their confidence in the goal scoring ability of the team.

With the 2026 Olympic Games right around the corner, many believe a change has to be coming however, with the likes of Hill, Logan Thompson and Mackenzie Blackwood all much better this season, although it appears Team Canada will look to continue their loyalty.

So far in this tournament, they've avoided a major blowout with Binnington in net, so it appears as though they're sticking by him for now, but with hockey becoming much bigger on the international stage, fans will continue to call for a big change no matter what.
