Ottawa Senators Fans Outraged After New Owner Michael Andlauer Announces New Venture in Quebec

The Ottawa Senators announced some new ventures in Quebec on Monday, but fans weren't too happy with the presentation of their iconic mascot Spartacat.

NHL fans in Canada have been calling for a return to Quebec City for a number of years now, with a report in recent months revealing that there was a concrete offer for a return of the Quebec Nordiques.

Now, the Ottawa Senators have announced an intriguing venture in Quebec, as owner Michael Andlauer revealed the team will take two pre-season games there next season, with suggestions that we may see regular season games there soon too.

While taking games to a city like that is good for the game in the area, especially if one of them is played against another Canadian foe, fans had a problem with the way this was presented, as the Senators posted a photo of mascot Spartacat with a half Senators and half Nordiques jersey.

It might look fun to those in charge in Ottawa, but their fans were absolutely disgusted, with many calling them out for this over fears the team may permanently relocate to Quebec City if a new arena can't be found in Ottawa.

As of right now, there's no plans to relocate the Ottawa Senators, but with the team posting this, it's making it much, much harder for the fans to trust the team and buy into what the organization is doing moving forward.

Ultimately, getting the game back to Quebec City would be a huge win for the province and for the NHL, but relocation isn't the way to go, and with a hungry fanbase already waiting there, it's safe to say the league would be wise to explore another expansion team in the area, with Ottawa needing to read the room and ease up on this situation.
