Western Conference Team Reportedly Interested in Signing Future Hall-of-Famer Jonathan Toews

The Winnipeg Jets are looking like a Stanley Cup contender in 2024/25, and now, they may be after a three-time Stanley Cup Champion to aid their push.

This season has been a good one for the Winnipeg Jets thus far, as their win on Wednesday over the fierce rival Colorado Avalanche has pushed them seven points clear at the top of the Central Division.

Now, an interview with Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press with Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff has revealed that the team are highly interested in former three-time Stanley Cup Champion Jonathan Toews, who recently revealed that his NHL career isn't as over as many expected.

Unsurprisingly, the Jets would love to add a 2C with the experience and the talent of Toews, who would bring the grit and Stanley Cup Playoff experience that Toews does, as the team will need to go through some of the best teams in the NHL to go deep in the Western Conference.

Toews hasn't played in the NHL since the 2022/23 campaign where he tallied 31 points in 53 games played, so while they may not be getting the star he once was, he brings the intangibles that are needed to win at the highest level in the NHL.

A deal however isn't imminent, as Cheveldayoff noted that they have not talked in quite some time.

At this point in time, a Toews return appears to be an inevitability, and while there's going to be plenty of interest in the 36-year old, the Jets present a perfect opportunity for him to chase the fourth Stanley Cup of his career.
